"How to Knit Toe-Up Socks the Fastest and Easiest Way"

Toe-up socks are the hottest thing in knitting right now. You have to learn a lot of new skills in order to do them, and that can be hard to do on your own. Once you learn how to do them, though, you’ll never look back.

You can make your socks two-at-a-time, and try them on as you go! Plus, you’ll never run out of yarn again. Since I love to teach toe-up socks, I created a video e-book course that guides you through all the steps of learning this new technique.

What you’ll learn in the video e-book:
  • Judy’s Magic Cast-On
  • Invisible increases
  • “Reading” your work so you don’t have to write anything down
  • The amazing (and easy) no-holes Fleegle Heel
  • How to knit backwards
  • Invisible Ribbed Bind-Off
  • Two-at-a-Time method
  • How to knit any size of toe-up sock in any weight
  • Tips and tricks for mastering toe-up socks (including preventing your balls of yarn from getting tangled), and MUCH more

This book comes a pattern for worsted-weight toe-up socks so that the project goes super-quick, and you get comfortable with making socks before you move on to using small needles.

What is a video e-book?
  • It’s a written book with videos integrated into the lessons
  • The videos stream from the Internet, so you can download the book instantly
  • The streaming videos save your computer’s hard-drive space
  • You get a front-row view of everything you need to learn
  • The full-page videos play right in your book

My in-person Two-at-a-Time Toe-Up Sock class is $35 for a two-week class. The flight to Salt Lake City is about $350! But when you instantly download the video e-book, you get the entire course on your computer, to watch and learn at your own pace.

You get a way better view than you do in my classes, plus you can pause it anytime! With 10-25 videos per course, this is a great resource. I’ve decided to introduce my “Toe-Up, One-or-Two-at-a-Time Socks” course at LESS THAN HALF the price of my class - $14.97.

Since I want you to LOVE knitting toe-up socks, try my e-ebook and if you don’t love it and tell all your friends, I’ll give you your money back and help you find a way to get the resources that work for you.

  1. This is a technique I'd love to learn. I knit American style and would like to know if the videos use both styles or just Continental? Also, if I purchase the video book, will I be able to view the videos as often as needed and will have have them forever? I'm a visual learner.

    Thanks!

  2. You will love it and never go back! The videos demonstrate me knitting Continental style except for the tricky bits in the heel, where I demonstrate the techniques both ways. HOWEVER, since you have the video knitting dictionary, which shows each technique both American and Continental, I think you will have absolutely no problem following the tutorials. Remember, if you don't totally love it -- if for any reason it doesn't knock your socks off, I'll refund your purchase right away.

When you buy the video e-book, you will own it and be able to watch the videos whenever you want forever. You can even put it on a thumb drive and take it with you and watch it on different computers. All you need is an internet connection.

Thanks for asking these great questions. Stay in touch!

  3. After purchasing your video e-book and doing a lot of practicing, I'm feeling confident to try it for real! Can you recommend a good pattern for 2-at-a-time, toe up socks using fingering sock yarn for an adult?

Thank you so much! Your videos are fantastic!

  4. Hi Vicki, that's fantastic! Check page 22 of your e-book: there are links to two toe-up sock patterns, one of which is for fingering-weight yarn. You do have to be a member of my free email newsletter to access the free download area, but once you sign up, you can download many sock patterns in many different weights.

I'm so happy you are knitting socks!

  7. Hi Liat! On my next pair of socks, I'd like to try the Eye of the Partridge heel.

    Row 1: (right side) * SL 1, K 1*, repeat across, ending with K 1.
Row 2: and all even rows: SL 1, purl across row.
    Row 3: SL 2, * K 1, SL 1,* repeat across row ending with K 2.
    Row 4: repeat Row 2.

With your toe-up pattern, I'm having trouble figuring out where to start. Where is the heel flap in the pattern? Thanks so much! Vicki

  8. Hi Vicki,
I love the Eye of the Partridge heel! This is a great question, because there IS no heel flap on the toe-up Fleegle heel. There are many patterns that do call for a flap, but they are more complicated and I don't think they are suitable for a beginner - that's why I went with the Fleegle heel.

I definitely know that "Toe-Up Socks: Essential Techniques and Patterns from Wendy Knits" (http://www.amazon.com/Socks-Toe-Up-Essential-Techniques/dp/0307449440/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287060300&sr=8-1) has a lot of different toe-up patterns that involve a heel flap. You can buy this at your LYS - it's a relatively new book.

    I hope this helps!
